Applications are open for £1,000 Pembrokeshire Agricultural Student Bursary Award
Students who are currently studying, or have been accepted to start their studies, are invited to apply for £1,000 worth of financial support from the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society to assist with their chosen college or career path.
The Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society’s Student Bursary Award is now open for applications from students studying agriculture, veterinary science, agricultural engineering, food technology, forestry or other subjects allied to agriculture.
Last year saw two individuals winning the award; Charlotte Lewis of Poyerston Farm, Cosheston who is studying Animal Husbandry at Aberystwyth University and Gwenna Maycock from Wolfscastle who is studying at the Royal Veterinary College at Aberystwyth University. Both received a £1,000 bursary towards their studies.
Mansel Raymond, Chairman of the Society’s Bursary Committee, said:
“I would encourage all Pembrokeshire students studying agriculture-related subjects to apply for this bursary. It not only provides financial support for your studies but also offers valuable experience, such as taking part in an interview - an essential skill for future employment. It can also play an important role in supporting your career within the agricultural sector. A panel of independent judges will compile a shortlist of candidates for interview, and the successful applicant will be invited to deliver a short presentation at a future meeting of the Society’s Show Council. The standard of applications is consistently very high, which is a testament to the talent of young people within our community. We look forward to receiving this year’s applications and hearing from the next generation.”
Qualifying students must not have won the student bursary on a previous occasion; the applicant must be studying or has been accepted to study agriculture or allied subjects at a UK college or university at A-Level or higher and the applicant’s family home must be in Pembrokeshire.
The bursary is tax free and will be awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the panel of judges, has submitted the best 1,000 word dissertation titled ‘How the Pembrokeshire Agriculture Society Student Bursary will assist my career progression’.
The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
